Camera update - hurrah!

I'm so excited - I have anew camera! Thank to a great friend, I've been able to get my mits on a 5D (not the mk2). It's second hand but it an amazing condition and I got a few extras (12 gbs of memory, E4 battery grip + 4 regular batteries and etc) which is all really great.

I have 3 or so important shoots this month so finally having a full frame dslr makes me feel a lot more confident - obviously the camera doesn't make you a better photographer, but it'll certainly be a helpful step-up from my 400D (I've been finding it very limiting recently, and at last I can get the full potential out of my cheap-and-cheerful 50mm f/1.8!)

Below are two images I snapped using the 5D - a crappy self portrait (sorry for obvious skin edits, my skin is awful this Autumn), and an unedited coffee table and mug shot haha. I love the colours and clarity of the last image - I can't wait to use this camera in a more official capacity and show everyone what I have planned.

A few more of Cyan Cheung in Léafric Designs. Absolutely loved this shoot - I have so many photos to go through and 3 films to have developed. Ohhh.

If I'm honest, some of the edits have been harder than others - I find portraits easier and often my camera captures those shots easier - the image is sharper, etc. also it;'s a portrait lens too, so you know (I need a new leeeeeennnns, ugh), but hopefully some of the full body shots on the film will come out.

I think the issue is probably having a good photo, but finding the overall composition not as "inspiring" as others, so it's a challenge to work with it against stonger edits. Also, as my friend Becca said (she asissted the shoot and also got some incredible photos from it!), what I prefer might not be what someone else does, so it's always hit and miss and good to have a second eye to run over your work.

I dunno, but I'd loved working through these photos - expect more soon, probably!

I have SO many photos from this shoot, but here are the few edited ones. I have some full-body images and a couple of roll sof film to get developed too, so I'll share those later this week if I can!

If I could afford to use film for the rest of my life, and only film, I would. I love my Canon DSLR, but I ADORE my Canon ae-1 much more - the sound of the shutter and winding the film on is almost erotic, haha.

I have hundreds of film photos. I'm going to try and organise some to scan in before the end of summer.

I want a darkroom.
